I find it interesting how the types of designers are either generally great at many things, or incredibly hyper-specific to the point of irrelivancy in other areas of expertise. It is also interested how the market has shifted into ai and system driven approaches to design. Modularity seems to be more important as well, but mostly adaptability (or lack thereof). I personally am a little concerened, considering that I fit the bill of “designer with clean portfolio”. While I’ve never done websites before, I have spent a good while designing band iconography and assorting brand materials (i.e. posters, album covers, shirts, etc.). However, I think that knowing how to use AI effectively, and in conjunciton with my pre-existing skills would help with moving to the current definition of senior, as detailed in the article.
